This book just came in the mail yesterday. Last night when quiet enveloped the house I picked it up and just finished it seconds ago. In all of my life and the books I've read I've never finished a book in one night. Never. I get bored with them after 30 minutes and have to come back to them later and read in increments.

This book is an emotional roller coaster, having me laugh one moment only to flip the page and leave me with tears in my eyes on the next. You never truly see just how mortal and entirely "human" celebrities are until you find great, fulfilling, wholehearted reads like these and how well put together it is. Patrick had an amazingly full life - one that people like myself only dream of having but I love the sincerity and truth he provides in this book about his faults and his struggles.

Yesterday would've made Patrick's 65th Birthday and I truly am still in awe at his immense talent, incredible looks and breathtaking spirit - even 8 years after his passing.

I hope 80 years from now he's putting a twinkle in the eye of the next generations. He's earned it. Even to this day I can't believe he is gone.

This is a must read. 5 stars isn't enough.

If you read this book, you will enjoy it! A must read! I love the stories he tells of his time on the movies we all love and of his loving relationship with his wife, Lisa. You will not be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this powerful book. Patrick looked like he had the perfect life but was so tormented. I could read it again and would still cry.
I could not put this book down. I am addicted to Patrick Swayze and look forward to rewatching all the great movies he provided us over the years after reading about them in more detail in his book. I read Lisa Niemi's book first and then just had to read Patricks. His was much more light hearted than Lisa's which was good so I could get through more chapters before having major crying episodes. You can just feel the love they had for each other when reading both books and it makes you want more out of life and the relationships you are in. They have both taught me to live each day to it's fullest and not to just exist. There is a huge difference that you don't really think about until reading both books.

I would recommend both books to everyone. I plan on reading mine again and again. After learning so much about him, I now find myself wanting to spend every spare minute looking up stories about him on You Tube. On my way to and from work most days, I plug my phone into my truck so I can listen to his interviews and tributes and cry like a baby. Thank goodness for waterproof mascara! He was a wonderful man, cowboy, dancer, actor, singer, songwriter, etc that will be truely missed. I wish he would have made it to find a cure for his awful disease but I give LIsa credit for making the choice to allow him to stop his suffering. Even a strong man like Patrick can't take everything his disease had to dish out. We'll never forget you Patrick!
I have adored Patrick Swayze for such a long time; since I left the theater after watching Dirty Dancing. He doesn't give himself enough credit for that movie. He was truly artistry in motion. This book made me feel as if we were simply sitting and chatting. And he's just the guy I thought he would be . . .
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about Patrick Swayze but also how to deal with life issues. Even though he was so amazing he dealt with so many issues that we all are faced with and did so with determination and love. When things seem to be insurmountable working through it and believing that you can make it through at least allows you to do so with dignity and grace. Patrick and Lisa allowed us to understand their world and along that catch a glimpse of the love and energy that these two people shared

I've always been a huge fan of Patrick's and this book just pulled back the layers of his life and bared his true soul. It made me feel great at some times and other times, I had tears rolling down my face. He was human, just like the rest of us, only his professional life was there for everyone to see and even judge. His talent was so bright and engaging, he pulled us in to every character he played. Gone much too soon. I would have loved to see what he would have done given the chance. If you are a fan of Patrick's, this book is a must read.
If your a fan of Patrick (or if just curious about) - this book is a must have. A telling revealing look at just who this awesome actor was! Some things will ahock you - some will amuse you - some points you may even feel a tear welling up!! WOW! At the beginning where he said he's 'had an awesome ride...' You cant imagine HOW awesome a ride. Patrick was an individual who pushed all limits a human being can push - and conquered them all. Most of all (as in ANY great autobio) -in the end- you will feel as if you know him personally. You will also get an awesome behind the scenes look at his films, fans, friends, and co-stars. To ANYONE who appreciates a good film? You will love this book... and more - you will have a greater appreciation of a human who truly did conquer life and lived life to it's utmost abilities. What you see on the screen - is how he was in life. A TRUE down home Southern boy - who beat the odds many times over. In life and career! You will definitely walk away inspired. HIGHLY recommend!
